The Ticking Clock: Understanding Time Limits

This article over at Critical Missive looks at countdown timers and time limits in videogames: how they started, what purpose they serve, pros & cons, what forms they take today, and some tips on how to do them well.  This guy’s stuff is always incredibly informative and interesting, so you should take a look, even if you have time limits (like I do).
