E3…aka Watch Dogs looks AWESOME.

E3 was forever ago, but it’s taken me a while to stop being lazy really analyze the impression E3 left on me. In a very brief nutshell, here it is:

  • WatchDogs: Will buy.
  • The Last Of Us: Yay! Gameplay!
  • Beyond: Oooh, pretty…..
  • I’m already excited for Assassin’s Creed 3.

And that was pretty much it. Yep.

I know there was a lot more to E3 than that, but everything else sort of blended together for me. I was happy to finally see some gameplay for The Last Of Us, because while I think “post-apocalypse” will soon become an oversaturated genre (if it isn’t already) I’m hoping The Last Of Us proves itself to be one of the gems of its kind. I’m worried it’ll be too hyped like Dead Island was, but being the optimist that I am I can’t help but hope it lives up to the expectations.

Nothing that I wasn’t already excited for (read: Assassin’s Creed + The Last of Us) really stuck out in my mind, save for Watch Dogs. Beyond was pretty, and I’m happy to see Ellen Page taking up a lead role in a video game— I love her. But Watch Dogs was something else entirely.

Aside from meeting E3 2012’s obligatory gunfight quota, it actually showed us something different. It showed us gameplay that WASN’T outright blowing someone’s head off that still had the potential to have a massive effect on the game world. I’m super proud of Ubisoft for actually showing us something different. So, yeah.
